Ok, well I went to the fridge today and got my own can of shut the f*** up. Ive re rigged my hang test to incorporate weight shift. While the safety straps are still just as effective as before, I cant say the same for my some of my conclusions. I was definitely wrong about A broken bolt or arm failure does not cause weight shift. Its clear to me now that it DOES, and it happens on opposite side of failure and therefore would likely exaggerate a spiral on the opposite side. Also I now believe toggles up and the wing will likely still be affected by weight shift with failure while straight and level. With that said Erics report of a deepened spiral makes sense. Im still puzzled as to how the bolt opposite of weight shift broke though. Im even more puzzled that we are only now talking safety straps for such a critical joint. Im still wanting to see pics of the broken bolt to try to analyze the failure. Tomorrow when I have help I will do the hang again and pull the bolt suddenly for more accurate view.
