Okay - since I got such great feedback the first time, I thought Id try to ask for a little more help. Heres my idea for the corners I mentioned in my previous post. Im trying to tie them into the 4 houses from Ron Clark too. The theme is Reading/writing... Corner 1 - has things from around the world to show you all the places these two subject areas can take you. Im displaying things from my travels in China this summer and other travels around the world. (Im kicking myself for selling my outdated globe at a garage sale.) -Still thinking about what RCA house this would go with? I was maybe thinking about Altruismo, which means giving. I thought I could say something like give back to the world - read and inform yourself and share yourself as a writer. Corner 2 - has a big knight in shining armor to show you that reading takes you to far away times (medieval) and to anywhere you mind can imagine. I found a cute image that shows - This is your kids (regular looking kids) and then it shows the kids on books and they are dressed up in all sorts of creative ways. I was thinking of having this tie into RCAs Reveur, meaning dream in French. Corner 3 - this was going to show how reading and writing provides opportunities for friends- I found quotes that show messages like youll never be alone as long as you have a book. I was thinking of tying this into Amistad, RCA house for friendship. I have no idea besides the quotes what else might represent friendship? Any ideas would be appreciated. Corner 4 - I want this corner to be something about how reading and writing requires risks and can help you become whoever you want to be. I was thinking of connecting superheroes with this and tying it into the house for courage. Does anyone have an idea here for what to display? I have shelves higher up, so I was thinking some big, cool __________. I want these to catch the attention of my students. On the first day Im going to explain that Im their captain/flight attendant on this reading/writing journey with them and how I will be making sure they get to their desired destinations safely. I found a cool site that lets you personalize airline tickets and i was going to serve pretzels. Please let me know your thoughts and any ideas. 1. What to display in friendship area? 2. What to display in courage area? 3. Other ideas and ideas for assigning my students to teams. Id love your help. Thanks, Jen Fergus
