Okay Facebook, PRP ALUMNI, and PRP COMMUNITY I need your help TO SHARE THIS MESSAGE AND MAKE IT GO VIRAL!!!!!! To start off let me begin by giving a little introduction to pleasure Edgepark marching band and the troubles they face! The pleasure Ridge Park band is directed by Miss Debra Burnell consisting of 91 students total and only 41 of those students are part of the marching band due to lack of funding! The pleasure Ridge Park marching band is totally self-funded. The school because the band is not considered an athletic team only funds the instruments themselves and that is only if there are enough funds left between orchestra ,choir and band to do so! For anyone who has ever participated in marching band you know the instruments are only a small part of the bigger picture! There are also cost for uniforms ,music ,props, visuals, good sound equipment, A way to haul the equipment and instruments to and from competitions ,ways to help haul pit equipment on and off the fields, and transportation for the students to get to and from the competitions!! Ms Burnell, the students, and the parents of the students have been and will continue to work very hard to raise funds to be able to get some of the much-needed items The marching band needs to succeed but they are struggling to do so! Which keeps them from growing as a team and believing in themselves! These children give up their summers and most of their afterschool lives to stay after and practice, practice, practice to be great and learn the music and the marches not to mention the fundraising they have to do. When they go to competition because they are not funded by the school they have to get transportation for the students themselves, rent a truck to haul the equipment and instruments to and from the competition themselves, and push the pit equipment to and from the field by hand. Which for anyone who is ever participated in the marching band knows that the pit equipment is very heavy and not easy to do in uniform sometimes these children have to push this equipment up and down hills and through grass just to get to the field! All this I have spoke of is funded by the marching band alone which makes it difficult for them to get some of the much-needed equipment and uniforms they need to succeed! After speaking with Ms Burnell at the competition at Morehead State University I realized how compassionate she truly is about the students and the marching band as a whole! It truly touched my heart to hear her concerns about how to get the things that the marching band needs for the students to feel good about what it is they truly love to do again! After speaking with Ms Burnell and some of the parents we all feel like some of the students just feel like giving up because they feel like what is the point and that concerns is all because marching band and band Is truly what they love to do!! Ms Burnell expressed to me how they are in dire need of new uniforms so that more of the band members can participate in the marching band. She also said they need a new sound equipment, New sheet music, new props and much more, and due to lack of funds she just doesnt know how theyre going to do it!! On top of all this KM EA classifies marching bands here in Kentucky by the student size of the school instead of the size of the band. So on top of not having the uniforms, equipment, props, and everything else they need, they also have to compete against teams that are three times their size which is unfair, and very disappointing to the students who works so hard to succeed!!! So here were my thoughts if we could all come together and shed some light on this subject starting with Prp alumni, the Prp marching band alumni, even the Prp community, and even people who just genuinely care about our young children who are striving to succeed in this day and age! Maybe we Can help them raise the funds they need to get the things they need to help them believe in themselves again and feel confident in the great students they have worked so hard to be!! Even if every person just donated $10 to the pleasure ridge marching band, funding would be made possible for things they needed! A lot of these students want to give up!!! Please let us give them a reason to continue striving for greatness and to believe in themselves again!! Please help me make this message go viral so that the students that works so hard to make something of themselves and stay on the right track to healthy and meaningful future can see that there are people out there that truly and honestly care about them staying involved in school activities and about their education!
