Okay. For all who dont follow The Fighting Mongooses group page. 110 days ago, my wife, Jinx Scogin, underwent surgery for Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma, a very rare form of cancer. That went well as far as the soft tissue was involved. Subsequently, the bone pathology showed extensive cancer along the jaw area and the base of her skull. For that, she just finished 33 radiation therapy sessions. We cant know if she is cancer free. But, she has done everything that can be done and she did it well, with courage and determination. I can not express how impressed and proud I am of her for getting through all that was asked of her - all the anxiety, pain, recoveries, pain, weight loss, pain, fatigue, pain, and hassle. We now begin the recovery stage, which will take quite some time. Her immune system and health have been severely compromised, so rest and relaxation are in order. Once her tastebuds return, she needs to regain the 30 pounds lost during this ordeal. And she needs to come to terms, psychologically, with getting on with her life uncertain of the cancer returning. Big Thanks to the folks at Kaiser Permanente, MD Anderson Cancer Center, and Northside Hospital Cancer Institute for their medical expertise. Dr Timothy S. Harlan, at Tulane University School of Medicine for his personal assistance and advice. The Transporter crew, who made the early morning 100-mile round trip daily drives to radiation therapy - Ashley AndDonovan Jackson, Nancy Anna, Damien Scogin, R.c. Giles, Christina Haun Hurd. Marilu Wallace, who made the trip down from NY to provide laughter and moral support. The folks at GTRI, where I work, who provided the time needed for me to help Jinx through this, and especially Doug Britton, who drove up with his family and mowed our lawn before we got back from surgery in Texas. Big Thanks to the 122 people who followed the group posts and offered support through comments and prayers; my vendors at at the farmers market for support, food, and going it alone while I was traveling; and everyone else who provided help, support, and prayers along the way.
