Okay! Here goes my first ever review. Warning: It is quite lengthy. Location: Create Your Taste McDonalds in Castle Hill Ive noticed that there hasnt been an in-depth review of these burgers on this page, and it was my first ever time going there last night so it felt right to start here. I know some people frown upon reviewing chain stores on this page but I figured this burger is different enough, as it was my own creation. Bones shelled out ($$$): $13.95 - So the way they calculate the price of the burger is by setting a standard price for the meal (or burger if youre going sans meal) and you pay an extra $0.50 or $1 for the extras outside of the bun, salad, meat, sauce and cheese. In this case, I bought a medium meal which wouldve cost me $11.95 without the extras. Name of said burger: The McAB - I just made this up, because it was an Average Burger. Let me explain... This was my order: Bun - Brioche Bun (you have a choice between a sesame, brioche or lettuce bun) Sauce - Chipotle Mayo (theres a wide selection of sauces) Patty - Angus Beef (only option) Cheese - Reg Maccas Cheese (a few options of cheeses) Salad - Red Onion, Lettuce Extras - Crispy Bacon (+$1), Aioli Sauce on the side (+$0.50) and Tortilla Strips (+$0.50) - The tortilla strips may be controversial, but the friend I was with had tried it before and said it added good texture, so why not? Cons: - The Brioche Bun looked over-toasted (it looked unappealing but it didnt alter the taste) - The Angus Beef patty was thinner than youd usually get when you purchase a normal Angus Beef Burger at Maccas, and it was prettyyyy dry. Wouldve preferred their normal beef patty over this one - The Tortilla strips were actually just broken up tortilla chips and tasted stale which didnt help the texture at all - Size of the burger was pretty small but it filled me up because I get full easily, but it probably wouldnt fill the rest of you guys up Pros: - The Chipotle Sauce added much needed flavouring - The Bacon was crispy - The novelty idea of creating your own burger is a fun idea, but it wears off 3/5 pickles - Overall, the McAB was pretty average but I gave an extra .5 point for Maccas coming up with a Kramer-esque idea of creating your own burger. However, I think I wouldve been happier with a trusty quarter pounder or double cheeseburger. I wouldnt go out of my way to go there again. Oh, and if you do plan on going to try it out, they have one in Castle Towers too at the food court - so if youre going to watch a movie (which we did) or go shopping, I would recommend just going straight to Towers rather than the restaurant. 2.5/5 spuds - Lost half a point because of the extra wait for what were average Maccas chips - they actually came out with our burger and drink first and told us it would be a 5 minute wait for the fries!
