Okay. I admit it. I am a casual gardener. I jam plants in the ground and if they live, thats great and if they dont then Im fairly philosophical about it. Occasionally I actually prepare the soil for planting, but most often I just take my chances and I have found it works more often than not. Today, however, I have encountered a couple of things that I dont know how to address, so I call upon my betters in this group to steer me in the right direction. 1. I have 7 large deodora cedars on the property. 3 of these are looking a bit yellow and have a lot of brown needles. Before I traipse down to the How dare you come in here and seek advice - just buy new Nursery I wonder if anyone has encountered this and knows of a general remedy or regimen for Deodora health. 2. My fellow gardner in ignorance cut back our beautiful, lush thornless blackberries to 1 foot stalks. He insists that the plants will regenerate quickly and provide a bonanza of berries on all of the new growth. I think it will take years for them to regenerate. Any thoughts on that?
