Okay...I deleted the post bc the issue has been resolved. To be honest, this whole thing has made Kelsi and I truly consider making a website where there will be a minimal fee for our choreo. There was a good point made by a few which was that I really cant get upset bc I post the videos on the Internet and really cant realistically haves control over HOW they are used. As far as Brickhouse goes, the way they can legally do what they are doing is that they make anyone that wants to use the Brickhouse Hip Hop Instructor logo has to pay this monthly fee of $9.99. With this fee, those instructors have access to this girls private Vimeo channel where her classes are video taped. In her classes she uses a mix of her own Choreo and other peoples Choreo just as a lot of instructors do. This is definitely a grey area and there is no right answer. Its hard to copyright choreo. Its expensive to sell DVDs with good music bc you have to purchase the copyright for each song used and ultimately Kelsi and I both do this to help others. That being said, it still rubs me the wrong way how our choreo is indirectly being used in this way. How is it different than when any of the thousands of instructors all over the world use it in their classes that they get paid to teach?! This is a good question and this grey area is what led me to post this discussion in the first place. So...thanks to everyone for your love, support and comments both good and bad. Hope you all have a great week and let us not (me included) lose sight of WHY we ultimately do this.
