Okay. I have spent some time this week trying to find the best burger in town. I think Ive found it thanks to many of you. One of the best buns weve ever eaten as it had actual flavor that complemented the other elements rather than existing as an edible container of meat and such. They make their own buns, which were light as air. After finishing mine, it was so good that I sat there trying to rationalize having another one. (I couldnt quite do it, though.) They cut their own fries, which are thin and tasty (I know that from stealing one of Montes) My only complaint would be the sound environment. The music was cool, but hard wood floors, plaster walls, metal ceiling fixtures before plaster ceiling....no soft surfaces, so, as the place filled with people, I couldnt hear what Monte was saying, and I doubt he could hear me. We had arrived just past 11 a.m., before lots of people came, and the sound was fine. And now, 90 minutes later, I still want another burger, but not because Im hungry. BTW, I had the miniburger and it was big; Monte had the middle-size one, and it was really big. Cant imagine the large one. Friendly, efficient service, soda on self-service tap, somewhat 50s furniture (aqua and pink), though not dominate as a theme. Comfy chairs, very clean place. Have a covered patio area, which Id love when the weather cools. Oh, you want to know the place? The Burger Place, 811 East New Haven, right across the street from Meg OMalleys. Two burgers, one fries, 2 large drinks, just change-shy of $20.
