Okay, I have to stop here and comment. It is just becoming too much. First of all, Dr. West can go to any HBCU that teaches AA studies and inspire thousands of young college students over the next decade. Second, he could call for more of a presence on campuses in the Ivy League. Third, he could also start an initiative to do educate college grads on the importance of giving back. Lastly, he could create more black periodicals that would address these issues instead of celebrity garbage that we can read in gossip rags. I really dont think it is appropriate to brand someone a sellout when you are in a space and using your platform to promote garbage and confusion. Nothing productive can come from having no plan, lacking organization, no fundraising, and jumping from one issue to the next. You indeed look helter-skelter and that is what they are reporting. It doesnt make them sell-outs. There are so many other issues that we need to address and the name calling makes people look like 5 year olds. When King was kicked out of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference by the black republican preachers...he didnt name call or brand anyone...anything. He simply kept going to address civil liberties. He didnt take on any other issue. He just expanded the message to encompass more allies and get support for what he was doing. Malcolm X, Dick Gregory, and all the rest doing civil disobedience stayed focused and it sent a clear message....we wont stop. There were hardly any black journalists besides the smaller black newspapers we had and they used television since it was new at that time toward their cause. They did the work and kept it moving. Who cares about the headlines? Most people know that journalism is garbage....but...sellout? Please dont start this mess...it wont end...
