Okay, I know I am due for an update....on Oct 27th my imperfect, chaotic, hectic, crazy life crashed when I was told my daughter Allison collapsed at school, couldnt make it to the nurses office, two staff members carried her there, and she ---the school nurse saved her life by calling 911, packing her head in ice, and giving the EMTs all of the right info---I was out 45 min away Christmas shopping, by the time I go to the hospital, she was intubated, shaved, and prepped for emergency surgery, the hospital cleared the OR just for her....we were told saving her life is the main goal, if and IF she survives, she will be brain damaged/a vegetable---best case, she will need rehab because she will suffer from stroke like symptoms since the AVM they discovered is still very deeply imbedded in her skull, that surgery is out of the question. Most AVMs are treated right away and fixed because they are located in the top of the skull, Allisons is not....by the power of prayer my child walked out of the hospital, didnt need a wheel chair or PT, or rehab....my immediate family dropped everything and rushed to our side, my elementary, jr high, high school, college, AIM co workers and those new friends we have made here in NJ, all prayed and stepped in when I shut down....the first three days were a total blur to me. I have no idea how many people to thank---so many have helped and prayed and for that I will be so ever grateful. If you dont believe in miracles, trust me you should, I have living proof as I was told my several medical professionals----God is good, he really truly is and listens to our prayers....Hug your loved ones a little harder tonight. We go Thursday to NYC for next steps, her brain needs to heal before they can do anything, she had an aneurysm coiled but the the other one was to close to the AVM to treat at this time....the thought she still has this untreated scares me to death, but the power of prayer is great, so if you pray, please continue to do so....we still need them. Thanks the Wessel family.
