Okay, I make no secret of the fact that Im no fan of ACA (aka ObamaCare, though I dont call it that). However I think the underlying premise of it is good. Now I read that thousands of people are having their personal healthcare coverage CANCELED by the providers they have had since before ACA went into effect, because the existing policies dont cover what is required by the law. Of course, in order to get coverage that meets the requirements, the premiums are going to be higher, in some cases MUCH higher. Not fair! I understand that the intent of part of the law was that everyone buying in would help spreading the burden around a bit, but when premiums are suddenly 100% to 150% higher just to meet the minimum requirements of the law, all this does it just put scads more cash into the pockets of health insurance companies. Im afraid its going to wind up just like automobile insurance, where the government REQUIRES you to have it or face fines, then the insurance companies keep adding all kinds of criteria to jack the premiums because after all, its not like you have a choice; even the state required minimum is a crushing blow to many families. This law as it is, in spite of its noble intentions, is in many ways a mess and needs to be completely re-thought and reworked.
