Okay, I need to get something off my chest here. Im a Cardinals fan. Accept that. My parents were Cardinals fans, my grandparents were Cardinals fans. My grandma used to tell me stories about Pepper Martin but she considered Dizzy Dean a blowhard (which, history shows us, he was, and a beautiful one.) Please tell me why I should feel shame about that? This group has been ragging on the Cardinals for the entire postseason... Is Effectively Wild an analytical group, enjoying baseball for the crazy ride that it is, or is a chance to take pot shots at a fanbase that you all dont like for whatever reason? Ive seen the city I love, St. Louis, unfairly criticized on these pages. Because of baseball? What? One Deadspin article does not give you perspective on this city. Ive seen a fanbase that Ive grown up with torn apart on these pages because... Why, again? Because the media latched onto the best fans in baseball idea that players were throwing around in the 2006 all-star game? No one mentioned that until that became a media narrative... Honestly, Im sickened by this group right now. I thought this was a place where I could rationally discuss baseball but its inundated by people who have bought into media perpetuated biases. Get your own perspectives. Amazing that a group so focused on stats (as am I!) would let their personal biases come out unfettered in the postseason.
