Okay, I posted this review on another page and thought you guys might be interested in hearing what I have to say :) Okay! Sorry, but this will be the second Allegiant post in a row. But, I feel the need to review the book. Because it made me very angry. *****THERE WILL BE SPOILERS***** First, I want to talk about the dual POV thing. It could have offered a lot to the story. However, it was very poorly done. Tris and Tobias both have the exact same internal voice. I kept having to go back to the beginning of the chapter to see whose head I was in. Roth completely assassinates Fours character. The night air slips into my lungs, and I feel like its my last breath. Who would say that? Certainly not Four. I have one other complaint about the dual POV, but for the sake of at least some coherency, Ill save it for later. For now, I want to talk about the whole Evelyn thing. Evelyn. The power hungry, diabolical woman that would stop at nothing to get what she wants. Four: Hey mom, could you like... not? Evelyn: omg ok ily What. Again. What?! There is no way that Evelyn would have given in that easily. Its completely out of character for her. Maybe if Four had presented an argument other than Ill be your son again if you stop, I could have accepted this. If we had seen some evidence that Evelyn is capable of being a human being, I could have accepted this. No such luck. Evelyn does a complete 180, and its ridiculous. Other issues I had with the plot, but cant really get into for the sake of this not being the longest post youve ever read in your life: -The whole GD/GP plot line was weak. -URIAH. URIAH. URIAH. -The book itself was actually kind of boring. to say the least. I found that I had to force myself to continue reading. This has never happened to me while reading Divergent or Insurgent. -Information dumping for the ENTIRE BOOK is not cool. Okay. On to the biggest complaint. TRIS. DIES. Wow, right? Heres the thing about it though. Im fine with Tris dying. The way it was gone about is what upsets me. Her death comes across as arbitrary. Pointless, meaningless, done for nothing but the sake of a little shock value or coming off as an edgy and different writer. If Triss death had actually meant something, if shed come off as a martyr, or had ACTUALLY ACCOMPLISHED SOMETHING WITH HER DEATH, I would have welcomed it and applauded Roth on her decision. But that doesnt happen. It was a completely dissatisfying end to what could have been an amazing trilogy. Allegiant completely ruined Divergent for me, and not just because I didnt get my HEA. I guess Roth doesnt really owe us anything, but we dont owe her anything either. I wont be seeing the Divergent movie. And I wont have anything else to do with the series. Unless, of course, she fixes it :) Please feel free to leave any opinions in the comments! ~PP
