Okay I ran into some issues with the Weird Wednesday topic. I kinda knew I would on some levels since I ran into this problem before when I wanted to write a novel about the Osage Tribe and had issues finding information on them a year ago... but I honestly figured finding ghost stories would be easier. Unfortunately the legitimate claims are kept pretty close to the chest and the ones that are online are the same old My house was built on an Indian burial ground.... ooooh spoooky! bullshit. So, I have decided to take the high road on this and not post death rituals and ghost stories but instead share something far scarier and poignant to the season. Not very many people know about the American holocaust and ethnic cleansing of millions (YES MILLIONS) of Native Americans from the moment Europeans first came to this land until well *checks watch* NOW! I was surprised at how little I knew and how little I still know about their history, culture and struggles. And I thought it would be the right thing to do to at least share some of my limited knowledge with all of you. It is not paranormal or weird, but it is indeed scary as hell that one race can almost completely abolish another with absolutely no resistance or hesitation. I think it is tragic that so much beautiful history and culture is lost because of ignorance and greed.
