Okay I wanted to explain the pictures of Cooper Hill: About these Pictures - the newest one that I just downloaded here! Ca. 1905 - Cooper Hill, Osage Co., Mo. -- These men, with their Wagons, and horses here - one picture is cleaned up - these men and Wagons, are Hackers - Cutting Railroad Ties - Clearing off the land of all those Big tall Oak trees - removing most likely Hundreds to Thousands & Thousands!! These hackers aka Hewing Ties - Many of Osage Co., Mo. men took advantage of the market for railroad ties during the Great Railroad Building Era I was given permission to use and borrow this picture, I feel like I am sharing its History and how cool that the tiny Sundry Village of Cooper Hill, Mo. - I borrowed all of these Historical pictures from the Osage Co., Mo Historical Society, located in Linn, Osage Co., Mo...... Note on the Last picture it says A. Langenberg its known as General Merchandising, he was one of the Largest buyers of Railroad ties!
