Okay, Ima goin on a rant. I HATE holiday music...freakin hate it. The songs suck and the arrangements are trite and terrible and they all sound the same: some terrible pizzicato strings mixed over a brass section while some idiot shakes a set of jingle bells. And, theres pretty much no where to go where youre not besieged with it. Further, I find it very difficult to believe that anyone outside of a year-round Christmas store owner REALLY likes it, either. Lots of folks listen to it, but I suspect they do so out of personal ignorance: they associate it with some vague, nebulous icon-inspired collection of stylized rituals that they like and so they make an (incorrect) leap to I feel good so this music must be good, also. So I ask this question: if you like this music, REALLY like it, why dont you listen to it all year long? If its good, its good, right? So you should be blasting it 12 months long and not just for eight weeks. I LOVE Halloween stuff and Halloween records and I DO listen to them year round. If you agree, then Like this post.
