Okay, Internet. Im looking for a sort of gym-buddy. But not for the gym. On the internet? Thats silly. No. I wanna get started learning stoof on the internets with the aid of online learning software linked to facebook. Theres a lot of it out there, and Ive never really looked at it before. Well, now that you can link it to facebook and /compete/ against other people, I figured it would be good motivation for us to learn some stuff. Two things Im doing right now- Learning French and Spanish: Okay, this website is really neat. You go to duolingo and sign up simply by clicking the Sign up with facebook button. You do go through lessons quickly and gain XP, which you can use to unlock other stuff and LEVEL UUUUUUUUUUUP. They keep adding more languages, and it sounds pretty cool. Go there. Im not really looking to learn more than 2 more languages at a time (In addition to my barely-learning of Egyptian Arabic) because I have a feeling that would do more harm than good. Its a lot of fun, and you get bonus points and stuff by going on daily and keeping regular. Its really REALLY well designed. NEXT THING- Learning to Code: So I used to program computers and stuff. I was never really any /good/ at it, but I could get by in HTML, Basic, and C. Well, now that its been about 7 years since Ive done any serious work on the subject, Ive decided that its time to start giving it a shot again. Theres this website called Code Academy (Link in the first comment below) where you can learn all kinds of programming languages. It operates a lot like Duolingo, and you can also keep track of your progress by posting it to facebook. Im learning Python right now because I think its a pretty relevant, easy-to-learn, versatile language. If you decide to join me on this venture, you dont have to learn Python... Anything will do. Im down for a challenge. ALL I ASK OF YOUUUUU- All I want is a group of us to engage in friendly competition to see who can successfully learn this stuff the best/fastest as measured by the applications we choose. Should you decide to want to be my internet-mind-gym buddy, all I want is for you to be really-super-extra transparent with your progress, and allow the apps to post to your facebook page so we can more easily keep track of each other. This is about having fun, learning, and pushing each other to make us better. Whaddaya say?
