Okay, a question to those with a theological background. Last night, I heard a man who is a priest (he had tell me that because he was wearing a shirt and tie to receive an honor) tell me that Karl Rahner was the greatest theologian of the 20th century, and that Edward Schillebeeckx (multiple times called into question by the CDF) and Richard McBrien are up there, too. What do you think? Ratzinger, Wojtyla, Von Balthasar, R. Brown, Dulles, Congar, deLubac? By the way, it occurred in the course of an evening where another honoree decried the Church before the Council, and where the assembly was encouraged to sing a new Church in to being. New Church? If the Church is the Bride of Christ, is that some sort of remarriage? Other fun things happened too, at this Catholic event.
