Okay, an update on Bella, our chipped but unclaimed stray kitty. Not the one stuck in the truck, rather the black on one of our assistants found last week. On Thursday, we noted a behavior change in her. We can never truly tell a cats personality until we see them out of a cage environment. So, we let her down in one of our exam rooms to play. Thats when we noticed she didnt have a normal gait when walking, as she favored her back end. Shannon picked her up on the table to pet her and saw some matted hair. Thats when we put it together that she likely had a wound. We gave her some sedation so we could evaluate her, fully, and found 3 puncture wounds on her rear, near her tail. Poor baby had been bitten, most likely by another cat. Thats probably why she jumped into Lisas arms outside her house and wanted in so badly. So, we cleaned her up, gave her some pain medications and antibiotics and she is back to her friendly, vocal self, this morning! She has tested negative for FELV/FIV at this point, but because of her known bite wounds, she needs to be retested in a few months just to make sure nothing was transmitted to her with this fight.
