Okay everyone, Jim is stable. He is broken up pretty well all - TopicsExpress

Okay everyone, Jim is stable. He is broken up pretty well all over. He has just about every rib broken on both sides. They DID fuse C-7 through T-7 yesterday (Thursday) took about 7 hours for the surgery. He has a break in a right femur, and two breaks in a left humerus. He has NO head injuries and never lost any consciousness, and he knows everyone, and everything. He does not remember a lot yet about the accident. As best as we can get, an 18 wheeler rear ended Jim and either pushed him up under another truck, vehicle something... OR the car spun and he was hit on the front and back more than once. Also we have been told it was not his fault... it was the other trucks fault. If you saw the pic below, my daughter Amanda posted it from my sons FB page, the car is not a car. They cut him out of it. the Weather is BAD here right now. So, we have possible hail, high winds, etc... so if I dont answer the phone, it could be that I have no power. It is off and on here, and hopefully it will not right here. Sounds like it may have missed us. Anyway, right now as far as I know from today, again Jim is stable. He is broken up in many places, but no head trauma, no pelvic trauma, the surgery did NOT show any type of spinal cord damage. So, all of those things are a good thing. As things change, or I know more about all of this, I will keep my Facebook page updated. He was headed for the airport in Dallas, to fly out and meet me while I was in DC and to visit his Step-Mom. He had not seen her in well over 12 years or more... I was in DC due to going with the Arthritis Foundation for Congressional statements to both the House and Senate on several Health Bills directly affecting people with all different forms of arthritis, RA, osteo, along with Lupus, Raynauds and all other types of chronic health issues. So, I was through he was going to fly out and be there. I had not met his Mom yet, so about the time she was picking me up from the Hilton in DC, I was getting the phone call that Jim had been in a very bad car accident. So, she walked up literally as I was having to tell her that he was hurt and at the time, I had no idea how badly... but I did know from what I was getting it was bad. I was so fortunate and I OWE THE ARTHRITIS FOUNDATION a GREAT DEAL!!! They (Laura Keivel) was there and she got me a plane ticket within the HOUR to fly out and come to Dallas. I am so grateful to them and I have just now gotten home in the wee hours of this morning to try and get things in order. Of course I have LOTS of things going on, and trying to find out where the car was yesterday, the police report, and my son had to drive in from Houston, and come to Dallas to the airport and pick up me. It was very late by the time I arrived but another one of the wonderful members of the Arthritis Foundation Chris Nieto!!! This gentleman has a daughter that has had JRA since she was 9 months old. They just celebrated her 10th year of JRA. But he was headed to Dallas. He saw me extremely upset while waiting on his ride to the airport. So, he came over and basically I had to have him help, take over. He got hold of the trauma unit, found out everything I needed, got hold of Laura Keivel and as I said they had me on a plane back to Dallas within a couple of hours. I owe him, Laura, and all of the rest of the team so much. Thank Goodness our World still has some incredible people in it. Chris happened to have been going to Dallas for a connecting flight to Denver for another JRA get together. So, he helped me get to the airport. My Mother in Law literally walked in as I was founding out about Im... you can imagine how I felt to tell this wonderful lady, that I had never met, her son had just been in a major car accident while driving to the airport in Dallas to get on a plane to come visit her and show me DC. We were due to stay until Sunday, to tour and visit. She (kept it together) and how I dont know, but she was a rock. She got us to the airport, even though we could have took a car, I am glad that I did get to meet her for just for few minutes, but it was not like that I wanted to have to meet her and visit. So, as I said our weather is BAD here tonight. So, if I do not answer the phone it is because of bad weather. I WILL keep posted here as much as possible, and if you call, and I dont answer, just leave a message and I will call back when I can. I plan on going back to the hospital in the day tomorrow....the weather is not supposed to be as it is today. I so appreciate all of the phone calls, well wishes, & I WILL tell JIM everyone is calling, asking, praying and keeping good and positive thoughts in his favor!!! We are both so very appreciative for everything... and as I said, I will try and keep this FB page updated, and when I have updates, I will let you know.... again I have so many people to thank, and I will get to that also. We have a long way to go for much of this. It is just one baby step at a time.... Thanks again to everyone... luv to all, Rhia
