Okay folks, most of you are well aware of my pro-Constitution, - TopicsExpress

Okay folks, most of you are well aware of my pro-Constitution, pro-individual rights stance. But because of some people, I think I need to make a few points very clear. This video (not mine) was made and posted with the intention of making Law Enforcement look like a Gestapo, who are bent on trampling on your rights. And while Im critical of any officer of the law who has overstepped their authority, I think we need to examine a few points. Are checkpoints truly unconstitutional? Well, we can debate that. Lets set that aside for a moment. But the officer in this video is 100% correct when he says that driving is a PRIVILEGE and not a right. One of the reasons we take TESTS for drivers licenses is to ensure that people who are driving are COMPETENT to do so, so that the overall safety of the public is protected as much as possible. Did this officer overstep his authority? In my opinion - NO, he did not. His attitude was a bit aggressive, but cmon people.....did he witness the murder of a child last week? Is he sick of people assuming he is one of the corrupt bad cops when maybe hes not? Everything the officer did and said in this video was CORRECT. Did he have an attitude? Yes, he did. But he did NOT let his personal anger at this guy affect his ability to do his job - and maybe thats one way to tell a GOOD cop from a bad one. If youre going to scream that your rights are being violated - be sure that they are in fact being violated - and be sure of the difference between a RIGHT and a PRIVILEGE. Nothing to see here, folks. Move along.
