Okay guys, I have an odd question. Has anybody on here ever had an experience with a chicken of both genders? I have this hen that DOES lay eggs but the thing is that I havent had a rooster for probably 6 months and my eggs are still being fertilized.... I have 4 chickens and I will get 4 eggs a day so unless somebody is laying 2 eggs a day, they are all hens.... BUT my eggs have that red fertilized dot. So i have been watching my chickens closely and one will walk around, peck another on the beak and appear to breed that other hen.... There are no other chickens around me at neighboring farms so im not having any visitors... What is going on? I thought that if this chicken was both genders, wouldnt it be sterile? But i appear to be getting eggs from it and am receiving fertilized eggs... Im confused!!!!!!! The chicken is a year old and doesnt have sickle feather like a rooster. Its cone is no different from the others and it doesnt crow. But im getting constant fertilized eggs...
