Okay ... here is the latest update from the NPS on the picnic tables. Staff visited over the weekend and inspected the picnic table situation. The decision was made to remove the additional (new) tables because the old tables were deemed to be in good condition and matched standards better. They removed the new tables to Cow Creek. The volunteer who donated the tables to the Springs is invited to contact the head rangers office to make arrangements should he want the tables returned to him. It is suggested that in the future, changes such as these be discussed in advance to avoid further issues. As the NPS has been unable to enter into an MOU with SPA toward this end, I would guess this means calling their office directly or fielding volunteer efforts through the camp host.
