Okay here it goes!!! I havent sat down and given you all a report on Ryan since we got back from Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. We got home a little before seven on Thursday evening. Im not sure if his problem would have been found if Ryan and Carol and another doctor at Presence in Champaign hadnt insist they try to take out the gallbladder. It uncovered a total inflammation of all of his internal organs. It was so inflamed that they could not tell one organ from another. Well, Barnes has run a lot further with this: They x-rayed the abdomen and would pockets of pancreatic juices in his abdomen. He already had a drain so they enlarged the tube and repositioned it. He is now on an anti-fungal and an antibiotic. They think this will allow the inflammation to liquefy and be drained from his body. He goes back this next Fri. (April11) to see if this tube needs repositioned or more tubes added. The pancreas itself is broke. Either some crystal stones from the gallbladder has clogged the ducts, there is some necrotic tissue in the pancreas that needs dissolved or removed or the neck of the pancreas will have to be removed.......later. He has now lost 65 pounds. No feeding tube yet. But he needs to eat. This will be an on going thing until the inflammation is gone but at least there is a plan of action. Long way to go yet!!! Please continue those prayers!!
