Okay heres our chance to put a rumor to bed (at least to the best of our knowledge). The image below is what is being planned for the northwest section of Palm Bay Road and Hollywood in West Melbourne. No there is not going to be an IKEA unless The Benchmark Group is tricking a whole bunch of people. Also to the best of our knowledge there is not an IKEA being built in Palm Bay. The attached link below shows that the IKEA Group has been contacted by the Bayfront Redevelopment District in Palm Bay but that is about designing a community area, not building an IKEA store. To be honest the only place that there is enough space for the footprint of an IKEA store would be somewhere down Babcock St. and that is kind of out of the population center of the city. Now weve looked and looked (and looked) and at this point at least until we see solid proof that an actual IKEA store will be built were of the belief that no, South Brevard will NOT be getting an IKEA. It wouldnt be the first time weve been wrong but all of the signs point to the only contact the City of Palm Bay has had with IKEA is for a redevelopment project.
