Okay, home from the choir concert event and Sera seems to have perked up a lot. We HAD prepared two dozen gluten free chocolate brownies yesterday for the event. Sera was quiet at one point while they were cooling on the kitchen counter. And I always get suspicious when a dog is out of sight and unusually quiet. So I went looking and caught her looking guilty in the kitchen next to the counter. Sue, how many brownies did you make? I asked. Around two dozen or so, came the reply. To which I responded, Well, I only see fourteen. My sweet little Sera, who gets an upset tum if she eats wheat or corn, managed to scarf up 10 chocolate brownies AFTER her evening meal!!! Chocolate is supposed to be terrible for dogs (though, EVERY dog I have ever lived with insists that is bogus veterinarian propaganda). Severe scolding followed. Along with quick emergency vet call. So I gave her half a cup of hydrogen peroxide mixed with half a cup of whole milk. Took her for a long walk. Nothing, Ten minutes after she gets in the house....it all starts to come up. She was very subdued when it was over, and much of today, but appears now to be none the worse for wear. I suppose it would be naive to hope she has learned NOT to eat food off the counter?
