Okay, in about an hour, Im hitting the pub to meet up with my UK posse, almost all of whom I havent seen in two years. So before I do that, gotta tell you a story. See, I had these three gals I went out with at least once a month. GNO - Girls Night Out. Nice dinners, but it was the company that was brilliant. One of the last things I remember doing before moving from England was having my last GNO with them. They gave me a picture of the four of us stretched on canvas with UK Rock Chicks printed on the bottom. I started weeping, as Im prone to do. And that canvas has been in every office Ive set up since. Anyhoots, thats not the story. Some years ago, I was at GNO with Becky, Nicci and Janet and I had just started getting down to the business of publishing my books. I said to the girls, I have to try even though I know nothing will come of it. This kind of dream rarely comes true. To which Nicci looked me in the eye and replied VERY firmly, Or, something could come of it and youll live your dream come true. At the time, all I could think was how marvelous that would be and what good friends I had that they believed in me and tried to keep me feeling positive rather than believing the other way around. Now, I still think what good friends I have and I KNOW how marvelous that would be. But it was Nicci and Becky and Janet who started me thinking that it could actually be the other way around when I had convinced myself it couldnt. Friends rock. And I get to hug a bunch of mine very soon. Rock on!
