Okay... its still raining outside (24+ hours later). Its a bit worrisome after our 100 year flood last year in Boulder (that so many people still havent fully recovered from). Im remaining optimistic, and grateful. Heres what happened at my house this morning... My ex husband came over to pick up the girls (in the pouring rain). He noticed that my gutter wasnt draining properly and that water was accumulating in places that were about to cause a major disaster in my basement. He immediately started digging trenches around my house and he climbed on the roof and worked on the gutters. He was standing in mud and water was pouring down his bald head. His clothes were drenched... all the way through. And he just kept doing what needed to be done for an hour. I was helping him, bailing out window wells, etc, and the girls were helping, too. He didnt leave with the girls until he was sure I was safe and the house was okay. It makes me realize the beauty of having children with someone... that relationship is forever and the differences that happen along the way dont really matter when it really comes down to it. I am so grateful for that man today. And touched and moved... AND I really hope it stops raining soon. :) xo
