Okay lawyer friends (or those who just play one on Facebook).... question please... A buddy of mine had a roommate who moved out of his apartment more than a month ago, but this former roommate has never put in a change of address request, so mail still goes there. He has been writing on it return to sender and putting it back in the mail. He has no idea what his former roommates New address is, nor does he care. He is tied of getting his mail though. Recently, however, the old roommate sent a threatening e mail message saying he would take action if he did not give him a certain peice of mail he was looking for because he had proof it was sent there. Now it seems logical that if he really wanted his mail he would have put in a change of address in a long time ago... but I was wondering if an anyone knows what the law says... is he responsible for his former roommate mail for any length of time? Thanks.
