Okay, looks like our Xmas party is going ahead, many thanks to Neil at Boomerang. Neil estimates he has around 40 to 50 children and 20 parents who would most likely attend the party. All are suffering from the current climate of austerity - so a little pick me up for the kids at Xmas might just put a smile on a few faces. All are local to Stobswell, so within easy reach for the venue. I have also been in touch with the 101 project today and expect them to also be adding to the numbers to the party. There is plenty of space as the Clubbie can hold well over 100. Neil at Boomerang has a Santa costume, A mechanical Santa he is willing to lend us and he may be able to access cheap snacks for the night. The date has been set as Wednesday the 17th. of December, starting at 6pm, finishing around 8pm. Children will be from toddler age up to 12 years old. Neil has kindly volunteered two members of staff to help out on the night, this helps a lot as they know the children who will be arriving from Boomerang. Neil has also very kindly offered to make posters and tickets up for the event. I am getting a digital copy of the posters and tickets as soon as they are ready, I will post them online when I have them. Legal issues regarding the safety of the children are adequately covered by the inclusion of parents to watch their children and the two members of staff from Boomerang being present on the night. We need your help. We need food, decorations for the hall and little presents for the children coming. (Recycled good quality toy donations etc. most welcome - doesnt have to be anything huge, anything will be better than nothing) An entertainer would be great also, although it is appreciated that it is short notice and it may be difficult acquiring one. (I have some ideas, get back to you if any luck) If you can bake a cake, make some sandwiches, donate a couple of pounds to go towards pressies for the kids, come along on the night to help, have other ideas to make this an extra special night for the kids, whatever - its all needed and all help is more than welcome. Needless to say that every penny donated for this event will be used for the childrens benefit, either going towards the purchase of food or presents for the children. I have already received offers of help from some, thanks for that, please keep it coming, many hands make for light work, lets see if we can make a little difference to some little people in Dundee this Christmas. Thanks.
