Okay, many people detest this government with a passion and most are quick to curse and call government officials unprintable names. Today, I have created a simple table listing five things I consider as positive achievement of the current administration. To be fair, there is a second table of five issues most people have with the government. Rather than cursing the government, why don’t we start listing the good and bad of this administration. At the end of the day, the table will be updated and we will score the government. Leggo.... Positives: S/N Achievement Comments 1 Aviation Significant improvement and upgrade of airports across the country, with a new int’l airport in Enugu. Much still needs to be done, but we are a lot better than where we were before now 2 Agriculture Tremendous investment over last couple of years with a decline of about N857B in food imports in the last year alone 3 Transportation Resuscitating the dilapidated rail tracks in the country. Though locomotive engines are still in use, but this is a significant leap in improving the nation’s transport system 4 Railways Cargo (goods and crude) are now being moved across the country, and from the ports. This will have a significant positive impact on the roads, and it is capable of reducing cost of agricultural products.... 5 Power So far, the power privatization has effectively transferred control of electricity generation from government to the private sector. This only mean one thing; significant improvement in power in the near future Negatives: S/N Issue Comments 1 Corruption Corruption is still endemic and the government seems not to “give a damn” 2 Labour Relations ASUU is still on strike hence schools are closed and other labour groups are threatening a showdown. Govt. Appears not to be in control 3 Security The threat of Boko Haram and other violent groups is still real. Across the country, security is a major issue 4 Security Kidnapping and armed robbery has become a norm. This is dangerous for the country 5 Politics Government appears to be more interested in party politics rather than the business of govt. Creating unnecessary tension in the country
