Okay, normally I would see this and ignore it, or else post - TopicsExpress

Okay, normally I would see this and ignore it, or else post something vague and snarky in reference to posts of this nature. However, Im not sure that does the job. So instead, Im going to point out, for the record, exactly why I not only do not share these types of posts, but actively loathe -- yes, loathe -- them. Yes, I know MANY well-meaning people who post or repost things of this nature. So forgive me in advance if I offend you -- I dont mean to. But there are reasons things like this tend to get ignored or trounced. 1. Why not just SAY if you dont re-post my ill-conceived, poorly written, ignorant, guilt-ridden post, youre going to Hell? 2. Ignorant? Really? Yes, actually. On multiple levels. Though we CELEBRATE the birth of Christ on Christmas, its not actually His birthday. And while I DO believe He is or can be honored by the celebration of Christmas, there are many Christians who note rightly that such celebration is not Biblical, and therefore probably not particularly grievous to Jesus when it doesnt celebrate Him. I love Christmas for its representation of Christs birth, and always will, but trying to guilt people away from Santa serves no actual purpose and offers no presentation of the Gospel. 3. Yes, He saw you read this. However, not sharing it is in no way denying Him to my peers. Neither Christs favor nor my salvation are in any way dependent upon my agreeing to share a passive-aggressive word picture depicting a whiny caricature of my Savior. 4. Did I mention the whiny caricature of Jesus? Seriously. Jesus is not some mopey,can-kicking adolescent who gets upset because you forgot His unbirthday. Not only will he NOT deny you in front of God for not sharing this, He may actually prefer you didnt. 4. If you have to threaten people with Hell to get them to share your post, chances are your meme sucks.
