Okay, one of my friends brought up an interesting and very common response to common every day issues, in referencing to politics. It was something to the effect that my friend said he used to get involved with politics, and said that it was unfortunate that we are so polarized and had so much bitterness. So, I assume that means he would rather not be active politically? What say you? Shall we just ignore the inequity in our Society? Shall we remain silent when we see wrong doing? Shall we ignore the cries of the hungry, the poor, the elderly, the mentally ill, the homeless? Shall we say nothing to those who are supposed to represent us in our Democracy??? Shall we just ignore the violence and gun violence in the streets? Is it easier to stay away from the problems? Is it better that we do not make waves? Of course it is much easier to not say a word. It is easier to remain silent. Right? This is an excellent thing to discuss. If you speak for those who have no voice, would you rather just shut up? A Rabbi friend of mine said that in the Torah it says that SHE gave man the stewardship of the Earth....and God made man after HER OWN IMAGE....well, so you are an Agnostic, and Atheist, a Muslim, or Buddhist, do you feel you have any responsibility for others in our society? When the Nazi Regimen went about to annihilate the Jews, was it okay for those Germans not to be political and not be involved? First they came for the Communists, and I didnt speak out because I wasnt a Communist. Then they came for the Socialists, and I didnt speak out because I wasnt a Socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didnt speak out because I wasnt a trade unionist. Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak for me. Shall we all just give up and let the large Corporations just take over and destroy Democracy, because afterall, Democracy is messy and gives too much power to the middle class, right? Pay attention, there will be a test.
