Okay, so Colin and Arthur have kindly nominated me to list my top ten favorite hip hop lps. Thanks chaps, Ive seen a fair few of these circulate already and for a collector, I reckon that list making is probably one of the hardest things in the world to do. The composition side is obviously fun, and gets the creative juices going - but that feeling of sheer dread that kicks in when you publish the results, after you realise you forgot to add Main Source Breaking Atoms etc. and then scramble to edit it before anyone realises that you messed up..Aargh, there are obvious pitfalls ahead so I think the easiest way to narrow down the infinate combinations and painful near misses is to list how I feel TODAY, totally unedited. Tomorrow may or may not produce a different set of results. But if it was different, it would still be damned close. I expect. So here we go, in no particular order (save myself a bit of grief).. 1. Public Enemy - Yo! Bum Rush the Show 2. Ultramagnetic MCs - Critical Beatdown 3. Diamond D - Stunts Blunts & Hip Hop 4) Boogie Down Productions - Criminal Minded 5) Big Daddy Kane - Long Live the Kane 6) Jungle Brothers - Straight Out the Jungle 7) Lord Finesse - Funky Technician 8) Kaos - Courts In Session 9) Demon Boyz - Recognition 10) Main Source - Breaking Atoms (strangely enough!) So, there you have it, any surprises?.. over to you Steve Beans Perrett, and Paul Aroe Barlow. Show em what you got there!
