Okay so I am looking for some advice on how to handle the city - TopicsExpress

Okay so I am looking for some advice on how to handle the city utility department. I have called and got no where.. So this summer I got bills over $700.00 I was able to use saving to pay for the first few months but due to that pleading savings and various other financial things that happened. My attempts to get my business to take off failed and I despite my attempts to sell and pawning items to come up with the last little bit of my bill I still wasnt able too.. So I had to seek help with my utility bill from an outside organization as there was no money left to pay it.. I found an awesome place called Hope Center in Abilene and they were willing to pay a portion of the bill that I needed help with. They ran through all your financials with you and if they deem you needy which in this situation they did. I was given a voucher to turn into the office. They took it along with my payment of over 2/3 of the bill. I did this two weeks before the bill was due. Given the way Hope Center and all other charities like this work it takes time to process the payment. Herington City Office knows this. Yet today I got a shut off notice along with a late fee assessed to it. I called Hope Center the lady informed me no other city assess late fees to the portan the voucher was covering and they definitely do not shut off utilities when thats the only portion owed because they know they will get that money. But yet here we are and Herington is shutting me off and charging me a late fee. Trust me if I was able to pay the bill to begin with I would of.. I dont like seeking help, in fact the mere fact I did brought me to tear and now despite asking for help because I needed it and then getting it the city is still refusing to work with me and not shut me off and not pay the late fee. Hope Center said that if this is how Herington is going to handle situations like this they will no longer allow their serves to be used here.. Which would be a huge burden to all residence of this city that when times get hard and they need help with something as simple as a utility bill they wont be able to use it, because Herington City Office has messed up policies and procedures. I dont want this situation to ruin potential help for everyone in the future from Hope Center but this is a beyond messed up situation.
