Okay, so I tried to watch The Strain last night. Looked like it could be a good, scary romp with an interesting plot line and characters. What killed it for me, though (and I gave it a good 50 minutes) was the annoying, newish trend of having the characters speak so softly at times that the music/sound effects cover up what theyre saying. Im sure its supposed to come across as real life but geez, Louise, give me a show where what is said can be HEARD. Obviously, the lines are important or the writer wouldnt have put them in there. I found myself playing with the volume switch almost constantly. And yes, my own sense of hearing is really good, thanks. So I gave up and watched Alfred Hitchcock on MeTV instead.
