Okay so I wasnt sure if I should share this...but I decided its important. I was shopping today with Rosey and we arrived at the check out behind a woman who was having trouble. Some of the items she tried to purchase didnt fall in line with WIC approved, and she was out of money. She started handing back items...broccoli...milk...juice...cheese...she never got angry and the staff was kind but they couldnt help her. I felt so compelled to just pay for her...but I didnt want to embarrass her but I couldnt stand it...and so I asked Can I pay for her groceries? The cashier said...If you want to....I said...I want to. The young mom looked at me and said Really? I said yes...I have been where you are and I understand. She cried, and hugged me. Then as she left, she turned around...extended her hand, and said My name is Miriam (love that name)...thank you so much...I told her my name and to take care of her babies. And just that quickly she was gone...and I was reminded to never forget the struggle because we have all been there...and it really matters to push through the discomfort and not to look away from anothers struggle.
