Okay, so Im up late writing this grant proposal and drinking wine. Right? I was drinking coffee when I started the artist statement part. But that was early in the day - maybe early in the week. I have never gotten a grant in my life. YOU want a grant!? Are you kidding!! But that was earlier in my career and over the years Ive matured in my work. I think. Anyway so I have to write in narrative form about my art, my jobs, my income, my exhibitions etc, etc. So I was writing this thing - which cannot be too long - and I realized, Ive had a pretty interesting career as an artist. But this is all very tiring - especially when you just finished a solo show and now you have to focus on a grant.... And I decided - you know what? Im going to have a glass of wine now. Its 11:00 damn oclock. A work night. Which means - Im working at night. (har) So my point is, what if I just drank a glass of wine and wrote the rest of the artist story/statement? What if I wrote it on two glasses of wine? Just relaxed and told it all like it is? No... Im not an idiot. Ill read over what I edited tonight. Relax with my second glass of wine. And finish it over coffee in the morning. Then Ill get it edited and rework it again.
