Okay, so Ive used Lyft on two separate occasions now (Friday and yesterday for the game) and its awesome! I definitely recommend it. Its so much quicker and easier than a cab. I want it to stick around Charlotte so I want everyone to know about it! Heres a rundown of how it works. 1. Download the app on your phone. The app will ask you for your credit card info and to connect to Facebook. 2. When youre ready, open the app and it will show you how many drivers are in your area and how long it will take them to get to you. Click on Request Lyft. 3. Once a driver has been notified (pretty much immediately) a picture of the driver and their car will pop up on your screen and let you know how long they will be (this has been accurate to the minute every time Ive used it). It also has a link to contact the driver. 4. When the driver arrives you get a text letting you know they are there. 5. You get dropped off at your destination and the app comes up with the suggested donation. One of the drivers last night told me that in this market, they dont see their tips because the service isnt popular enough yet to generate more than their base of $15/hr so not to bother tipping. So for the second ride I asked if the driver was busy enough to get my tip and he said no, to just stick with the donation. 6. The driver then gives you a rating and you give the driver a rating. If you have a terrible experience with a driver (3 stars or lower) you will never get that driver again. Prices: From my place in Plaza Midwood to Southpark was $20. (I think they go on distance, not time because both times it was the same fare but the weather on the way back was horrid so it took a lot longer. From my place in PM to uptown (Ale House) it was $10. Definitely worth it!
