Okay so surplus military hardware is being delivered to local police departments across the country. What? When did this happen? Did we get some in Miami? I sure would like to know if the Miami Police Department or Miami Dade Metro Police, or any other Police Department in Miami-Dade County has received armored trucks or tripod mounted machine guns and flash-bang grenades. I was shocked when I read this article. It states that throughout the Country “police departments have received tens of thousands of machine guns; nearly 200,000 ammunition magazines; thousands of pieces of camouflage and night-vision equipment; and hundreds of silencers, armored cars and aircraft.” Hello? Has it occurred to anybody who these guns are going to be pointed at. Why in the world would we give Police Departments military equipment? I think the citizens of this community need to know. I think we should demand to know. Furthermore, we need an explanation of exactly what is the action plan or under what conditions would the Police use these armaments. This is very scary.
