Okay the CrossFit Games Open is almost upon us again, we are going - TopicsExpress

Okay the CrossFit Games Open is almost upon us again, we are going to be approaching it a little differently than we have in previous years. We have previously had a really high participation rate entered in the Open, this year there are a few more requirements for submitting a valid score (videoing, qualified judge etc) - so we are going to only have set times for completing the Open workouts and getting a valid score (at this stage most likely Friday afternoon / Saturday during Advanced). Completing the Open outside of the set times will be via arrangement only (if I dont see the workout happen, the score will not be validated - no exceptions) That said - most people intending to complete the Open have probably made that decision and know what is required (if in doubt speak to any of the trainers at the gym). For the majority of people at the gym who completing the Open is not taking so seriously (no intentions of qualifying for Regionals etc), we are still going to run the workouts as part of the regular sessions but we will be scaling/modifying the workouts as appropriate and running an inhouse leaderboard on whiteboard 2. We want everyone to be a part of the Open but dont want people standing there trying to snatch their new 1RM 30 times... Instead of encouraging people to officially enter the Open (for the fun of it), we will be encouraging people that want to do our inhouse Open to donate what would have been the entry fee (I think maybe $20??) to a charity (yet to be selected - happy to take suggestions!) Make sure you have a look at the CrossFit Games website to get some more info about it all as it is awesome and stay tuned for updates about events happening as part of the Open at the gym
