Okay, this is a great song and everything... But I very rarely - TopicsExpress

Okay, this is a great song and everything... But I very rarely listen to it anymore, every time I do it kinda makes me angry that this is the song hes most known for. There are so many great songs by him out there, songs with a whole lot more meaning to them than this one. What about A Thing Called Love? My Guitar and My Song? Im Your Guitar? A Friend? Back Home In Georgia? You get my point, right? The man was so freaking talented, take it from one who tries to study his guitar playing and do it themselves. A lot of people call themselves Jerry Reed fans, but a lot of people arent as creepily obsessed with him as I am. I will openly admit that I know waaaay too much about him and his life, but knowing so much has really made me fully appreciate him. I never met him, he wasnt even alive when I became obsessed with him. But I feel like I know him to an extent. Ive read a LOT of interviews in magazines from the 70s and online, Ive watched a lot of videos of him and Ive listened to every single song that I can get my hands on. Hed say things like all wars are dumb and I figure if youre gonna pick the damn thing, then pick the hell out of it. I feel connected to him somehow, that might sound stupid but its true. Especially when hed say things like I had a lot of hang-ups back in high school. I thought I was a weirdo. The man has said some pretty deep and meaningful things in his life, but that quote is by far my favorite thing that ever came out of his mouth. I really connect to it. Ya know, the fifteen-year-old thats sitting here ranting about how Jerry Reed will never get the appreciation that he deserves. By studying EVERYTHING about him, Ive learned what kind of person he was. He was just so down-to-earth, and I love him for that. ... If youve read this far then you deserve an apology. Im sorry, Im done now... https://youtube/watch?v=uHZJej98_T0 ~ IronDuke
