Okay, this might turn out to be a bit long, but Im really excited. Carrie Ann and I dated for 7 years before we got married and anybody who knows me knows how much I love music. We met in 74 & went to quite a few concerts & saw a lot of great bands. Little River Band/Cheap Trick in Campbell Stadium; Pink Floyd in Atlanta Fulton County Stadium; several shows in Tully Gym - Jimmy Buffett; Firefall; Steve Martin; in Atlanta we saw Dr. Hook at least twice. Christmas 2014 - CAT & the boys gave me a GREAT Christmas present. March 12, 2015, Carrie Ann & I will be in Jacksonville to go to our first concert in a pretty LONG time (cant remember if it was Aerosmith, Elton John, Cher, or Carrie Underwood). Well be seeing Journey with Steve Miller Band and Tower of Power - oh - on the floor in the 8th row! So, howd it happen? I managed to get CAT to the puter to watch a bit of a movie that Id already watched twice. I HIGHLY recommend watching it - Dont Stop Believin: Everymans Journey. Its the story of how Journey (Neal) found new lead singer Arnel Pineda - who is awesome. Carrie Ann watched the whole movie. She stayed up and watched it because it is such a great insight into a great band and the individual members. I have been a fan since the first album, when Neal Schon & Greg Rolie got together with Aynsley Dunbar, George Tickner & Ross Valory after leaving Santana. Greg sang lead for Black Magic Woman and Evil Ways in Santana & I liked his voice partly because I could sing his songs. First album was a lot instrumental (which I really liked) & I remember I liked Spaceman (3rd album) a lot, probably because it seemed better suited for radio play. Radio (esp. GULF-104) had a lot more AOR (Album-Oriented Rock) stations in the early/mid 70s (funny how songs started out at had-to-be-under-3-minutes, went to could ramble on for a while - In-a-Gadda-da-Vida was 17:03, Crimson & Clover 6:37, Shine on You Crazy Diamond 25:35, The End 11:47, Suite Madam Blue 6:29, etc.) After Steve Perry joined, well, I cant reach Perrys highs, but I liked the songs they (Steve & Greg) did together like Feelin That Way. Wed. night CAT said she remembered that we saw Journey in Ruby Diamond Auditorium. We checked online to see, and sure enough, Journey played in Ruby April 20,1978 with Montrose & Van Halen. Thats when I remembered where I had seen Van Halen! Anyway, heres a trailer of the documentary... https://youtube/watch?v=ocBbzqRBoJY
