Okay, this will officially be my last post, possibly forever. Seriously. I have discussed controversial topics and welcomed debate and disagreement as long as it remains respectful. It used to do that. Lately, things have devolved. I received a personal message this morning criticizing me for my attack on Randy Bachman (its not — I find his show, Vinyl Tap, interesting and informative, and I love the music. It reminds me of a great musical history class I took in university. This same person told me that my grammatical ponderings are offensive and a concern regarding my mental health because why would I post such things. I was told that Im picking fights by posting these. Ill speak in my defence one last time before exiting: I was not trying picking fights and I was, in no way, trying to cause any harm by engaging in some silly word play and parsing of words that break their own rules. I am not one bit angry about the fact that words like monosyllabic have more syllables than they should, and I was quite sure that everyone knew that I was having fun. But no, once again, Ive caused offence. This offence, like the previous ones, was inadvertent. Im taken aback and confused over this because, like I said, i have not shied away from controversy, and in those instances, I expected heated response. Now that I get more heated, angry response from posting things that are, in my opinion, innocuous, well, I have no course of action but to just stop completely. I hope that my absence will not cause more anger, but somehow it seems that regardless of what I do, a lot of people are pissed off with me. This is not one bit comforting. Goodbye.
