Okay... today, I received my latest issue of SI. It is the 2014 Baseball Preview. Just like last year, they pick the Nats to win it all. What makes them think that if the pick didnt work last year, that it will work this year? So of course, Mr. Stat Man does his research. Come to find out the last time they correctly picked the World Series winner was 2000 when those Nostradamuses predicted the Yankees would win there third straight. Wow! Such a bold prediction, right? Last year, NONE of SIs 13 MLB staff writers even had the Red Sox in the playoffs let alone win the World Series. Last year, they had the Royals in the playoffs... we see how well their predictions panned out. This year they have the Sox losing to the Rays. They need to sober up to reality. The Rays are good but do not match up with the Sox. They were one lucky walk-off HR last postseason from a sweep by the BoSox. Not even Detroits vaunted pitching staff could pitch around that line up. This year, the Sox didnt make too many changes to say... Wow! They lost a step! What exactly did the Rays do in the offseason to make these idiots think that, come October, they stand a chance against Boston. In my opinion, Rays wont even sniff the playoffs this year. The Yanks are much improved and I just dont see Tampa getting there. The bottom-line is we can all make predictions but SI doesnt pay me for mine. I can afford to be wrong. How stupid to they feel that they only predict this right once in 14 seasons!!!!
