Okay, where do I begin? Were home now, after being in Indy 9 - TopicsExpress

Okay, where do I begin? Were home now, after being in Indy 9 hours! Our day started out at 5 a.m. Marilee went in for 3 hours before we left; what a strong German Woman! ;) I started out my day in pain and had to soap up my wash rag in the sink before getting in the shower, because man, I was not too stable and still wobbly, and I wasnt going to do another back flip out of the shower again! ;) Cut to the minor surgery for the port insertion. I hate it! :( As soon as I arrived at Radiology, I started the jokes and getting the nurses to laugh. When the nurse wheeled me in the gurney into the nice cold operating room, I met Dr. JJ, a Bulgarian!! He was 40 with a good sense of humor! I told him I had a Doc in Marion who was Lebanese, one here from Syria and now him from Bulgaria - how International!! As he prepared me with the oxygen hose up my nose, mask, head cover and a tent over my face (yes, he called it a tent!) so no germs would fly into my upper shoulder area after cutting in, we talked about the chemo I would be facing next week thru the port. I told him I was told that my hair would fall out on this one, and I couldnt wait to see if it all grew back, even where I had no hair. He looked at me and said, Itll probably come back blonde!! He and I had a good laugh and then I told him what my Principal, who is black, told me, that it would come back as an Afro!! ;) Well, from that point on, all everyone did in the room was crack jokes and we had a good laugh throughout my procedure. All went fine, I got what the nurse called, Happy Juice in my arm and I felt no pain. The Doc and nurse said they were glad they got me, I was easy! They even commented on the fact that I put my gown on the right way - so it was open in the front, easy access for them! I even got to keep my sandles and my cargo shorts on - how bout dat?! But seriously, I hate the port!! :( Its just so foreign to me, to have something sticking out of me, and dangling close to my armpit!! I couldnt even wear my seat belt the right way because it would have gone right over the dangling tubes. And by the way, I cant even get it wet, so no showers until it comes off in about 3 1/2 weeks - SPONGE BATHS!! Ugggghhhhh! I hate it!! :( Lets see what tomorrow brings!! Ed ;)
