Okay, writer friends, editors, and fellow superhero lovers… I - TopicsExpress

Okay, writer friends, editors, and fellow superhero lovers… I have a question for any of you who may remember the 1978 Hanna-Barbera TV Super Friends line-up that included Apache Chief, as well as for those of you who may be more in-tune with present day attitudes toward this character. In regard to political correctness, should Apache Chief a be No-Go for a brief reference in my book? For instance, could a young character have an old Apache Chief nightlight without me offending anyone? I remember Apache Chief from my own childhood. According to this wiki, Hanna-Barbara added the character, among several others, in an attempt to add more diversity to the show. However, the wiki also says: Apache Chief himself was often found speaking in clipped, stilted tones reminiscent of stereotypical Native American speech patterns. But its only a nightlight, and Im really just trying to sneak in some playful foreshadowing. Still… I hesitate. Thoughts? I suppose I could use Hank Pym instead, or maybe Colossal Boy? Comic book friends! Any suggestions? (I sweat this stuff…)
