Okay, you all...(If youre not in Portland, you might not understand all this crap, but my friend Terry Bean is getting crap shoveled at him that is not fair....in response to that, a friend of mine, Melanie Davis, posted this as a response...I totally support it. From Melanie: I just sent this to the Publisher, Editor, and Sales Manager at WW [Willamette Week]: After much consideration we at Brilliant Media llc., dba El Hispanic News, PQ Monthly, & Su Público have decided to pull our ad in the Willamette Week (WW) “Pride Guide”. We as longtime sponsors, of Pride NW will continue to support the efforts of the organization and the events it hosts. However, we will not support WW profiting off the LGBTQ community by Queer Shaming one of its most nationally recognized leaders and longtime advocate, Mr. Terry Bean. As I have stated: I am deeply disturbed by the lack of journalistic integrity being demonstrated at WW. It is not ok to publish an article that has not been properly fact checked and makes strong accusation without any supporting evidence. This is not an industry standard, nor should it ever be! Because of the reasons outlined here Willamette Week Newspaper does not have my permission to print our ad on its pages or in any electronic version.
