Okene Local Govt staff strenght is not up to 1,400 staffers. Lokoja Local Govt is not even up to 1000 workers. But it pains me to know that our little young Ajaokuta Local Govt hosts a total number of not less than 2,400 workers, " a mockery to the administration". Now tell me, how do you expect the Local Govt Chairman to pay the salary of these workers promptly without any hinderance especially when the available allocation is not even enough to do just that. According to the ex-chairman, Hon Samson Bako, " its a problem inherited by the present administration". And in the past as the ex-chairman pointed out, he had tried various methods with various set of people to regulate this abnormal populations of the Local Govt workers, but failed. Do you care to know why? Because there was no atom of sincerity by those set of people. And simultaneosly, do you also care to know who were those set of people? Its we, the same set of people that are complaining now. I think we the entire workers of Ajaokuta Local Govt have to accept our fate on this irregular/non-payment of salaries as the adverse effect of our insincerity towards doing things. Because it is our own making. As a man must accept his fate or be destroyed by it. Do our people even know that 45% or even 50% of the Local Govt allocations goes to the SUBEB, 5% goes the traditional council and a reasonable percentages volatiles into the thin air as a result of joint allocations? Now as the Local Govt Chairman, how do i pay N74 millions workers salaries with just N52 millions or even N60 millions at hand? Its practically impossible. No any kind of permutation will make it posible. So let accept the fact that we are the architect of our personal predicament. The earlier we know this , the better for us. The truth is that we must all agree to down size the number of staffs we have at the moment in order to get out of this ugly menace. Thanks for you audience.
