Okiday, Ive given you a quick break down of the Old Testament and the New Testament; but, what do you suppose can be found in the pages of each of the Bible divisions? Im so glad you asked! I praise God everyday for the knowledge I have that I can pass on. I know someone, somewhere needs to read these words. Today, I will give a one sentence description of what can be found in each book in the Old Testament; tomorrow, I will do so for the New Testament. GENESIS--A book of beginnings. EXODUS--The great exit from Egypt. LEVITICUS--An instruction manual for the Levites. NUMBERS--The desert nomads. DEUTERONOMY--Moses law review. JOSHUA--The great entrance into the Promised Land. JUDGES--Repeated sins and their relational consequences. RUTH--King Davids Great-Grandmother 1 SAMUEL----Samuel, King Saul, King David. 2 SAMUEL--King David reigns for 40 years. 1 KINGS--King Solomon to King Ahab to King Jehoshaphat. 2 KINGS--Falling deeper and deeper into the pits of sin. 1 CHRONICLES--Building the Temple. 2 CHORNICLES--The exiles return to their covenanted land. EZRA--A detailed account of the returning exiles. NEHEMIAH--Rebuilding the walls around Jerusalem. ESTHER--A courageous deliverance of the Jewish people. JOB--Why do righteous people suffer? PSALMS--Praise and worship. PROVERBS--Divine wisdom for living life. ECCLESIASTES----All life is futile without God. SONG OF SOLOMOM--Jesus everlasting love for His church. ISAIAH--All kinds of warnings of Gods soon-to-come judgment. JEREMIAH--The surrender of the nation of Israel to Nebuchadnezzar. LAMENTATIONS--A heart-felt sorrow for Jerusalem. EZEKIEL--The fall and subsequent restoration of Jerusalem. DANIEL--Biblical prophetic words. HOSEA--Sin and the redemption of sin in Israel. JOEL--Coming future judgments. AMOS--Human prosperity and its counterpart, decay. OBADIAH--God judges Edom. JONAH--A plan of repentance for the Gentiles. MICAH--Biblical prophecies against the nation of Israel. NAHUM--The impending doom and destruction of Nineveh. HABAKKUK--Living a life of faith. ZEPHANIAH--The judgment of and restoration of Judah. HAGGAI--Rebuilding the Temple. ZECHARIAH--A renewing of spiritual commitments. MALACHI--The coming of John the Baptist and Jesus, the Christ.
